Meet The Pastor & His Wife!

Pastor Donald and Robin Moon have faithfully answered God’s call to serve at FBC Mertzon since 2024, leading our church family with Christ-centered hearts, genuine love, and a passion for making disciples. Since joining our church, they have become much more than our pastor and his wife, they have become family.

Pastor Donald faithfully preaches and teaches God’s Word each Sunday, providing biblical leadership and shepherding our church with wisdom and humility. He also leads our Grow & Connect Bible Study, encouraging believers to deepen their faith and walk closely with Christ.

Robin faithfully serves alongside him in countless ways. She helps lead and care for our Wednesday youth ministry, lovingly prepares meals for our children and volunteers, and leads our Thursday Women’s Bible Study, creating opportunities for women to grow in God’s Word and encourage one another.

Together, Donald and Robin invest their lives in every generation of our church. Whether through teaching, mentoring, serving behind the scenes, praying with families, visiting those in need, or simply offering a listening ear, their love for Christ is reflected in the way they care for our church family. We are deeply grateful for their faithful leadership and the lasting impact they continue to make as they serve the Lord, FBC Mertzon and our community.

GOD

There is one true and living God, the eternal Creator and sovereign Lord over all creation. He is personal, holy, all-wise, all-powerful, and perfect in every attribute. As Creator, Sustainer, Redeemer, and King, He rules over the universe according to His perfect will and purpose. His knowledge is complete, extending over all things—past, present, and future—including every event and every choice made by humanity. Because of who He is, He alone is worthy of our highest love, worship, honor, trust, and obedience.

God has eternally revealed Himself as one God existing in three distinct Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each Person is fully God, equal in deity and glory, while sharing one divine nature and essence without division.

A. GOD THE FATHER

God the Father lovingly and sovereignly governs all creation. By His providence, He directs history and cares for every part of His creation according to His perfect wisdom, grace, and purpose. He is all-knowing, all-powerful, perfectly loving, and completely faithful.

Through faith in Jesus Christ, believers are adopted into God’s family and know Him as their Heavenly Father. Although He demonstrates kindness and compassion toward all people, He uniquely relates as Father to those who have been redeemed through His Son.

B. GOD THE SON

Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, fully divine from all eternity. In His incarnation, He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, taking on human flesh while remaining without sin. He perfectly fulfilled the will of the Father, living a life of complete obedience and revealing God’s character to the world.

Through His sacrificial death on the cross, Jesus willingly bore the penalty for sin, providing redemption for all who believe in Him. He was bodily raised from the dead in victory over sin and death and appeared to His disciples following His resurrection. He ascended into heaven, where He is exalted at the right hand of the Father as the only Mediator between God and mankind. Fully God and fully man, He alone reconciles sinners to God. One day He will return in power and glory to judge the living and the dead and to establish the fullness of His eternal kingdom. Until that day, He lives within every believer as their risen Lord and Savior.

C. GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit is fully God and eternally one with the Father and the Son. He inspired the human authors of Scripture so that God’s Word was faithfully written. Through His work, He opens hearts and minds to understand biblical truth and continually glorifies Jesus Christ.

The Holy Spirit convicts people of sin, righteousness, and coming judgment, drawing them to faith in Christ. At the moment of salvation, He regenerates the believer, places them into the Body of Christ, and permanently indwells them. He produces spiritual growth, develops Christlike character, comforts and strengthens believers, and equips them with spiritual gifts for service within the church.

The Holy Spirit seals every believer as God’s own until the day of final redemption, providing assurance of God’s faithful promise to complete the work He has begun. He empowers both individual believers and the church to worship faithfully, proclaim the gospel boldly, and serve others for the glory of God.

BELIEFS

BAPTISM AND THE LORD’S SUPPER

Baptism is the public act of obedience through which a believer is immersed in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It serves as a visible testimony of faith in Jesus Christ; His death, burial, and resurrection. Through baptism, the believer identifies with Christ by symbolizing death to sin, the burial of the old way of life, and being raised to walk in the new life found in Him. While baptism does not bring salvation, it is the God-ordained expression of a believer’s commitment to Christ, the first step of obedience following salvation, and the biblical requirement for church membership and participation in the Lord’s Supper.

The Lord’s Supper is an ordinance given by Christ for His church. As believers partake of the bread and the cup, they remember the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ on the cross, proclaim His saving work, and look forward with hope to His promised return. This act of worship is a solemn reminder of God’s grace and a joyful anticipation of the day when Christ comes again.

SALVATION

Salvation is God’s gracious work of redeeming the whole person from sin through Jesus Christ. It is offered freely to all who repent of their sins and place their faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Through His sacrificial death and the shedding of His blood, Christ secured eternal redemption for all who believe. Salvation is received by grace through faith alone, and there is no other way to be saved apart from a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

The work of salvation includes regeneration, justification, sanctification, and glorification, each demonstrating God’s saving grace in the life of the believer.

A. Regeneration

Regeneration, often called the new birth, is the supernatural work of God’s grace by which a person is made spiritually alive and becomes a new creation in Christ. The Holy Spirit brings conviction of sin, leading the sinner to repentance before God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Repentance and faith are inseparable responses to God’s gracious call to salvation.

Repentance is a sincere turning away from sin and a wholehearted turning toward God. Faith is trusting in Jesus Christ alone for salvation and surrendering one’s life to Him as Lord and Savior.

B. Justification

Justification is God’s gracious declaration that the repentant sinner is forgiven and counted righteous through faith in Jesus Christ. On the basis of Christ’s finished work, the believer is fully accepted by God and brought into a restored relationship of peace, favor, and fellowship with Him.

C. Sanctification

Sanctification begins at the moment of salvation and continues throughout the believer’s life. Through the indwelling presence and power of the Holy Spirit, believers are set apart for God’s purposes and are progressively transformed into the likeness of Christ. As they grow in grace, they are called to increasing spiritual maturity, holiness, and faithful obedience to God’s Word.

D. Glorification

Glorification is the final and complete fulfillment of God’s saving work. When Christ returns, every believer will be perfectly redeemed, freed forever from the presence of sin, and made complete in His presence. This eternal state is the lasting hope and blessing of all who belong to Christ.
